Embassy of India
Ambassador Ashok K. Kantha met with the Secretary of CPC Provincial Party Committee of Guizhou Province, H.E. Mr. Chen Min’er, in Guiyang on 11 October 2015.
Ambassador thanked the Party Secretary for the arrangements made for the visit of the delegation to Guizhou and noted that cooperation between Guizhou and India has expanded, particularly since the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to China in May 2015 where three MoUs were signed between Indian enterprises and Guizhou Province and an MoU on establishing an industrial park in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, was signed between GIIC and GMR Group of India. Ambassador called for an early harvest in strengthening cooperation between India and Guizhou by accelerating implementation of these agreements. Ambassador also noted the possibilities that exist in cooperation in the fields on IT, pharmaceuticals, industrial parks and tourism.
Party Secretary Chen Min'er said that a solid foundation has been laid for cooperation between Guizhou and India and that Gui’an New Area in particular has taken India as a key partner for collaboration. He called for cooperation in the fields of big data, pharmaceuticals, tourism and culture and also suggested a sister-province relationship between Guizhou and an Indian state.
Ambassador responded positively to the suggestions and said that we could continue discussions to explore cooperation in the areas suggested by the Party Secretary. Ambassador also extended an invitation to Party Secretary Chen Min’er to visit India at an early date.
